WORK IN PROGRESS
28th February 2026
Ian Rogers
The brewery can be reached by a pleasant riverside walk along the River Severn, unless the river is in flood, when a longer walk via the town will be required.
The building is Victorian, originally a school and then a Craft centre, before becoming a brewery in late 2007 and opening in 2008. Entry is via the small car park, with the Brewery Shop on the right hand side. Turning right beyond the shop there are some uncovered tables and chairs in front of you and beyond a large marquee containing further covered seating. To the right is the Tap Room which can be accessed by either of two sets of double glazed doors.
The first doorway leads you into two large rectangular rooms with plenty of seating and which have the walls covered with a mixture of brewery and railway memorabilia. Turning to the left (or entering by the other door) brings you into the smaller third room which contains the compact bar. This room also includes a window allowing a view of some of the brewing fermentation equipment. The brewery is a 10 barrel plant which allows up to four brewing sessions per week.
On the bar are six hand pulls for cask beers that are all from the brewery. At the time of the visit those were Worcestershire Way – Pale – 3.65%, Jubilee Ale – Pale – 4.3%, Worcestershire Sway – Pale 5%, Baldwin IPA – 4.2%, Red Hill – Amber – 4.4%, William Mucklow’s Dark Mild – 6%. There are also seven keg lines available, which included Sabrina, Severn Storm and Laxford Lager.
Through a viewing window you can see the fermentation room and the fermenting vessels where the beer ferments once brewed. They brew on a 10 barrel plant which produces 2880 pints per brew. They have the capacity to brew four times per week, which amounts to over half a million pints per year.
Cobs are available on Fridays and Saturdays. Pork Pies in two sizes may also be available. Street food starts from Easter Saturday and then fortnightly on Saturdays throughout the summer until October.
Local CAMRA Gold Pub of the Year 2024 and County runner-up.
